Voting Integrity
The BookTok Indie Author Awards are fully reader-driven. To ensure fairness and transparency, multiple safeguards are in place to protect the integrity of the voting process.
All votes are monitored and reviewed for authenticity.
Winners are determined solely through public voting.
No judging panel determines finalists or winners.
Every verified vote contributes equally to the outcome.
Voting activity is monitored using a combination of automated and manual review processes designed to detect irregular voting patterns.
Monitoring may include:
Timestamp clustering
IP pattern analysis
Device/browser matching
Rapid vote surges
The following activities are strictly prohibited:
Bot or automated voting
Use of vote-exchange groups
Fake or duplicate account creation
Paid voting campaigns
Scripted or API-based submissions
Any attempt to artificially influence results undermines awards integrity.
Authors are encouraged to promote their nominations; however, coordinated manipulation is not permitted.
Unacceptable practices include:
Mass voting rings
Organized vote trading
Incentivized voting (contests, giveaways tied to votes)
Organic promotion is permitted. Artificial amplification is not.
The awards reserve the right to invalidate votes identified as suspicious or inauthentic.
This may include:
Duplicate vote clusters
Bot-generated ballots
Rapid automated submissions
Vote removal may occur without prior notice to preserve voting integrity.
In extreme or repeated cases of manipulation, the organizer reserves the right to:
Remove a title from voting
Disqualify an entry
Void affected category results
These decisions are made in good faith to protect fairness.
While specific fraud detection methods remain confidential, the awards are committed to transparency in outcome integrity.
Finalists and winners reflect verified vote totals following integrity review.
