Code of Conduct
The BookTok Indie Author Awards are built on community respect, inclusivity, and celebration of independent creativity.
All participants are expected to engage professionally and respectfully throughout the awards process.
Participants must engage respectfully with:
Authors
Readers
Nominees
Organizers
Sponsors
Harassment, intimidation, or targeted hostility is not tolerated.
The awards celebrate diverse voices across all identities and backgrounds.
Discriminatory behavior based on race, gender, sexuality, disability, nationality, or belief system is strictly prohibited.
Authors may promote nominations and voting participation respectfully.
Spam campaigns, harassment tagging, or aggressive solicitation are not permitted.
Promotion should remain celebratory, not coercive.
Participants may discuss nominated works, but:
Personal attacks against authors are prohibited
Harassment disguised as critique is not permitted
Review bombing campaigns are unacceptable
Constructive discourse is encouraged. Hostility is not.
Participants are expected to interact respectfully with awards staff and volunteers.
Abusive communications, threats, or harassment directed at organizers may result in removal from participation.
Violations of the Code of Conduct may result in:
Warning notices
Vote invalidation
Submission removal
Disqualification
Participation bans
Severity of enforcement is determined at organizer discretion.
Community members may report misconduct through the official awards contact email.
Reports should include:
Description of the incident
Relevant screenshots or links
Names of involved parties (if known)
All reports are reviewed confidentially.
